News

The Daly River abounds with wildlife. As Woolianna is right on the bank of the Daly River, surrounded by bush and has its own billabong and monsoon vine forest, wildlife is right there at your doorstep.

Birds of many varieties live around Woolianna: Its a bird lover's paradise. Jabirus stride about on the sandbanks, brilliantly colored kingfishers flit among the trees, little black pittas hop about the ground in the vine forest, kites and white breasted sea eagles swoop and dive for fish, black cockatoos screech across the sky...

BUT don't take our word for it...COME and SEE FOR YOURSELF!

Possums, Wallabies and Bandicoots are shy creatures but many can be seen at either dawn or dusk.

Snakes may sometimes be seen in Woolianna. It is possible to see species of snakes and goannas, therefore we recommend that visitors wear boots when bush walking. Please remember they will not harm you if you do not harm them.

Large Green Tree Frogs live at Woolianna and are a delight to see. We treasure our frogs and request you help care for them by not touching or killing them. These beautiful frogs are friendly and found in trees. However, here at Woolianna they can be found on the walls and the toilets and sometimes in the bowl - Please do not harm them. They do not bite!

Crocodiles are plentiful in the Top-end and the Daly is full of them! They can be seen lying on a sandbar or at the edge of the river soaking up the sun, or just lazing in the river. They really are magnificent creatures.

THEY ARE NOT A DANGER, IF YOU OBEY A FEW SIMPLE RULES
